Cock-up as elderly speckled hen closes Tuttington

Residents became concerned on Wednesday as police road blocks prevented traffic from all directions entering the village next to the T-junction by the Tuttington sign. Apparently, the cause was an accident between a lorry carrying Old Speckled Hen beer and one or more other vehicles that resulted in a ruptured fuel tank leaking diesel across the road. Emergency services quickly controlled the scene and proceeded to stem the flow of fuel minimising the risk of fire and pollution. Fortunately, nobody appears to have sustained any injuries as a result of the incident.

Ensuring the safety of the public (and the cargo)

After more than an hour of road closure, the damaged vehicle was removed and the spilled diesel mopped up. Residents are advised to proceed with caution on Norwich Road near to the T-junction.

There are reports than no beer was lost as a result of this incident so local hostelries and their customers can rest easy.

The aftermath: the vehicles, fuel and beer have now been removed
