A magnificent specimen of Common spotted-orchid (Dactylorhiza fuchsii) was spotted beside the only public footpath in Tuttington this week.

It was located along the path between Beck Lane and Stow Hill Road. However, the plant can no longer be seen due to footpath improvements. The Common spotted-orchid is the most er… common of UK orchids – not always a given for our wildflowers with the name ‘common’ – so no doubt another will appear sometime in the future.
