How to join the meeting

You should be able to join the meeting any time after 7:15 on the day.

Basically, there are two ways to use Zoom: from your internet browser, or by using the Zoom app.

If you have never used Zoom before and you click the link above, depending on your system, you will probably be asked to download a Zoom file or the Zoom app to your device and enter the meeting ID (shown above). Follow the on-screen instructions and enter the password if asked to join the meeting.

Alternatively, you can download the Zoom app yourself and ‘join’ the meeting, enter the meeting ID and password when asked and off you go. You will then see the hoards of other attendees as little pictures on the screen, many with a shelf of clever-looking books behind them that likely they have never read.

Make sure that whatever device you use has the microphone and video activated.

Parish Council Meeting protocol

At Parish Council meetings, the Chairman, Cllr. Ian Kinghorn, runs the session and he will explain how things will work for the online meeting.

For much of the meeting, only the Parish Councillors are usually permitted to speak. For this reason, you will find your Zoom settings muted by the Chairman.

Quite early in the meeting, the Chairman will open the meeting up for the public to ask Councillors questions or to raise issues of concern. Wave your hand to let the Chairman know you have something to say and he will invite you to make your points.

After the public participation period, you will likely be muted again and will not be allowed to make further comments unless invited to do so by the Chairman.
